Fun and Cool things to do in Tajikistan

The main reason for visiting Tajikistan has to be the Pamir's. It's an exceptional experience not to be missed. To visit an area of outstanding beauty where not many have been is a rare thing. Get there before the country undoubtedly becomes a tourist hot spot. The accommodation is basic and the infra structure is not developed but when you witness the awesome scenery it wont matter. The grandeur deserves not 5 but 10 stars!

A must to do before you die Absolutely stunning cold desert - in the Eastern part of the High Pamirs - one should visit. Get warm and keep you blood pressure under control - for the rest, your emotions will overwhelm and pay back. Enjoy the road!

A not yet fully discovered paradise for adventurous travelers and trekkers. Tourists come here in two categories, those who hire a 4WD with driver at high cost and generally travel the Pamir Highway in a week or less. And the rest, adventurous travellers who will spend little but stay longer; cyclists are the majority in this group. Tajikistan (also outside the Pamirs) is a paradise for hikers.

The Ismaili Centre, Dushanbe, enables convergences between fresh perspectives and sound wisdom. Bringing together under skylights and in courtyards, by gardens and around pools, spaces for encounters, for reflection and for search, the Centre serves to facilitate equilibrium between din and dunya — faith and world.

Dushanbe's wide, tree-lined avenues are home to a number of monuments and museums, including the Unified Museum and the Museum of Antiquities, as well as a beautiful opera theater and myriad cafes and teahouses where visitors can sampleTajik sweets.

Translating to "Monday" in Tajik, Dushanbe was once a tiny mountain village known for its Monday market. Today that village has become a metropolis, but the Barakat covered market remains one of the most vibrant attractions in the city.
Amazing Sights! In and around Tajikistan.

Tashkent is a fun and interesting place, with the best restaurants, museums and nightlife in the country. With emerald green parks, gardens, fountains, tree-studded streets, Tashkent is the most modern, biggest city and capital of Uzbekistan.

Samarkand is a city in Uzbekistan known for its mosques and mausoleums. You can visit most of Samarkand’s high-profile attractions in two or three days. If you’re short on time, at least see the Registan, Gur-e-Amir, Bibi-Khanym Mosque and Shah-i-Zinda. Samarkand is a must see for all travellers visiting the Central Asia.

Bukhara, which is situated on the Silk Route, is more than 2,000 years old. It still contains hundreds of well-preserved mosques, madrassas, bazaars and caravanserais, dating largely from the 9th to the 17th centuries. Bukhara rugs hold a high place in history and compete with the best in the world.

The trip from Dushanbe to Khorog will take you to the narrow valleys of Panj-River which marks also Tajikistan's border to Afghanistan. Sometimes the Panj becomes to narrow that it just seems like you can jump across to the afghan side. If you are looking for a real adventure you can try the spectacular and breathtaking Tajik Air flight.
So Much To See!

It’s hard to believe that Khorog’s Central Park was dug up to grow crops during the famine of the 1990s. It has since been renovated by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and is now a delightful place to read a book or take a riverside stroll after visiting the nearby tourist information centre. It's exciting to find anyone even attempting to offer Indian cuisine in so remote a corner of Central Asia and Delhi Darbar does an unexpectedly good job, especially with some of the vegetarian options.

Khujand is one of the oldest cities of Central Asia. The Khujand citizens and tourists like to go swimming, sunbathing or fishing on the lakeside. The city’s climate is as beautiful as nature – the hot summers are softened by the winds and the waters of the Syr-Darya, while the winters are mild with little snowing. The city has a theater, regional history museum and an archaeological museum as well as the Khujand State University, with students from all over the country.

Tajik cuisine is a traditional cuisine of Tajikistan, and has much in common with Russian, Afghan, and Uzbek cuisines. Plov is the national dish in Tajikistan. Green tea is the national drink. Traditional Tajik meals start with a spread of dried fruit, nuts, halva, and other sweets, then progress to soup and meat, before finishing with plov. Meals are almost always served with non (naan). If a Tajik has food but not non, he will say he is out of food.
